Obituary for Veronica Guzman (DeLeon)

Veronica Guzman (DeLeon)
Veronica was born May 11, 1975, (Mother’s Day) in Houston, Texas and was a lifelong Humble area resident. She worked as a Contact Center Reporting Analyst with Empyrean Benefits Solutions, after graduating with her Masters Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. She departed this earth for her heavenly home Wednesday, September 14, 2016, after a long battle with Lupus and more recently suffering from respiratory complications.

She is survived by her husband, Mauricio Guzman; her daughter, Victoria DeLeon; mother, Elida DeLeon; her father, Sergio DeLeon; two sisters, Vanessa Moreno and Gabriella Habel; two nephews, Nicholas Hipolito and Jacob Hipolito; two nieces, Carissa Hipolito and Mia Moreno and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Alex and Josie Pedraza and paternal grandmother, Monica Aldaco.

There is not a life that she touched that was not forever changed. One of her greatest passions in life was rescuing animals. Her beloved companion animal, Roxy, passed away in February of 2014. Veronica made it her mission in life to rescue animals and had since adopted two additional dogs, caring for a total of 4 fur babies (Lily, Gracie, Rocky, and Morena) in their loving home. She was also an avid reader and never left the house without a book or Kindle in hand. When she became sick and was unable to continue working in an office setting, she set forth and pursued a passion in book editing. She managed Roni’s Editing Services where she helped Indie authors with book editing needs. Rescuing animals and book editing were her passions, but her failing health did not allow her to continue for long.

Veronica was a kind, giving soul who helped anyone and everyone if they were in need. She constantly put others needs above her own and would go without herself so that she could help others. Her smile, warm hugs, and infectious laughter will never be forgotten.

After her long battle with Lupus, Veronica left this earth way too young but her acceptance of Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior ensures she is no longer sick or in pain. She is now in the loving arms of Jesus, her beloved Mimo, and is walking around with Roxy on the streets of gold.

Memorial donations may be made to Abandoned Animal Rescue at http://www.aartomball.org/donate/ or the Lupus Foundation of America, The Houston Gulf Coast Chapter at http://www.lupus.org/
