The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of LaDon Farmer can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Growing up

This story starts in December of 1949. We were living east of Ryan, Okla. on a farm, LaDon would have been in the 10th grade. In December of 1949 we moved to West of Bowie, Texas about nine miles in the country all dirt roads, to farm and ranch the homestead of Grandpa Pa Farmer. So we started school in January of 1950 in Bowie Texas, LaDon after couple months, he told Mom and Dad he would like to go back to Ryan to finish High School. They agreed and he found a room and also got a job at the grocery store and helped in the meat market, to pay for his room and board. He also played sports. After graduating from Ryan High School, the Korean war was still going so he had to join the Army, he never had to go to Korea. But while he was in the Army our oldest brother was living in North Dakota, and was getting married about 1954, and LaDon hitch hike all the way to North Dakota to be in the wedding. He wore his military uniform and back them you had no trouble catching a ride due to the respect of serviceman. Another thing he loved fast cars, his first fast one was a 1958 Impala, and his next fast one was a 1962 Corvette.
