Obituary for Myrtle Louise Connell

Myrtle Louise  Connell
Myrtle Louise Reed Connell passed away peacefully with her children by her side, Sunday, February 18th, 2024, in Houston, Texas. Myrtle Louise was the daughter of Joseph Reed and Carol Delores Reed, born in Houston on March 27, 1935. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband James Connell, and her 6 siblings: Edward Reed, Beryl Reed, Nyles Reed, Ronald Reed, Noel Reed, Wanda Jo Reed. Louise is survived by her sister Eunice Reed Foltin, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Louise, as she preferred to be called, married James Connell in 1965 and they had three children. Julie Connell Freeland, Ronnie Shelby Connell, and James Craig Connell. She was also a Stepmom to Linda Hunter. Grandchildren include Reagan Hunter, Sean Connell, and Austin Connell. Great Grandchildren include Ian and Evan Connell. She and Jimmy raised their children in Brookwood's Estates and Jersey Village.

Louise graduated from Klein High School as Salutatorian of her class in 1953. She was a talented basketball and volleyball player and received the Babe Ruth Award for Outstanding Achievement in sports and academics. She was also a Cheerleader and selected as Home Coming Queen and Senior Favorite.

She was a devoted daughter who chose to enter the work force upon high school graduation to help support her parents and younger siblings. Her first job was with the Houston Fire Dept at the #1 Station. Louise went on to work at Cameron Iron Works, Brown Oil Tool, and Memorial Oaks Cemetery. She also assisted her husband Jimmy with their furniture business and later became a Realtor and Apartment Manager.

Louise cherished the loving ties she shared with family and friends, often making it a priority to be there for them. She also adored her dogs Buffy, Rowdy, Mia, and many others.

She was a devout Jehovah Witness and attended the Kingdom Hall in the Heights for many years. She treasured the fellowship with her brothers and sisters in the faith.

The family will forever appreciate the love and care Louise received in her last several years at Fairbanks Court Assisted Living. God Bless You for your tireless efforts to deliver compassionate care with a smile.

A service will be held March 2nd, 2024, at 12PM at Rosewood Cemetery in the Jessie Faye Fields Chapel. 7908 Rankin Road, Humble, TX 77396.
