Obituary for
Karen Lynn Haag (Coogler)
July 4, 1947—While fireworks were lighting up the sky in celebration of Independence Day, Karen Lynn was making her debut. She came into the lives of Robert Burns and Helen Turner Coogler with a blast of excitement.
Karen went to elementary and high school in Houston and graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1965. After finishing high school, she met and married Wayne Thompson, later she met and married Dennis Clark Duckett. On December 9, 2002 she married Arthur Paul Haag. For twenty plus years they lived life to the fullest as husband and wife and travel partners. They traveled internationally to over 120 countries plus numerous cities in the United States.
Karen was active in various organizations including but not limited to Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy, Junior League of Houston, Houston Historical Society, and The Scottie Club of Houston. Karen raised and showed champion Scottish Terriers. Her love of dogs led her to become a rescuer of abandoned dogs. They became like her children. Those present at her transition to glory included: Cowboy, Handsome Mike, Joey and Sunny.
She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church until her health failed.
Karen peacefully entered eternity on September 14, 2023 in the comfort of her own home. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Helen Coogler and her husband Arthur Paul Haag.
She is survived by her sister Rebecca Duff of Conroe TX, beloved niece Laura Sopchak Avery of Anderson TX, uncles, Wayne Turner and Charles Arthur Turner of Houston, TX, her best friends, Stephanie Smith, Molly London, Linda Moler, and Joanne Zumbrun, and many cousins, nieces, and friends.
Special thanks to the members of Nunn Care Assisted Services: Gwen Green, L.K. Morgan, Marcia Whaley for all the love and faithful service shown to Karen over the last year.
