Obituary for
Henry Francis "Chick" Raborn
Born on November 26, 1927 in Houston, TX passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2023, Splendora, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Garvis N. [McDONALD] Raborn of seventy years, his beloved son Donald L. Raborn, parents Thomas W. Raborn and Rose A. [PACKARD] Raborn, and hissiblings Rose F. Kihn, Dorothy M. (Ventre) Reed, Joseph L. Raborn, Paul D. Raborn, and Edward L. Raborn. Chick graduated in 1946from Milby High School, Houston, TX and served honorably in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Navy Reserve. While in high school Chick was a life guard at Mason Park swimming pool, Houston, TX and worked twenty-six years at a major oil refinery along the Houston Ship Channel as an engineer, chief operator, and first class mechanic. He also graduated from the lndustrial Electrical lnstitute in Chicago, lL. Chick leaves behind five children: Ronald Raborn, Karen Raborn, Teresa Pinder, Stephen Raborn and Alison Raborn along with twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great- great grandchild.
Chick enjoyed hunting, and fishing with his brothers, Eddie and Joe, and with his brothers-in-law Edward Risinger, Howard, Nolan, Marlon, and Gordon McDonald. He took great pleasure in exploring nature with his children, and coaching youth baseball at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Houston, TX. Chick loved vegetable gardening, storytelling, taxidermy, and volunteering at St. John of The Cross Catholic Church, New Caney, TX.
