Obituary for
Alton Buryl Gunn
Our beloved husband and father, Alton B. Gunn, made his journey to Heaven on Thursday, June 29th peacefully at his home in Cypress, Texas.
He attended Aldine High School, Class of 1953. He readily enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and was assigned to Camp Pendleton followed by deployment for the Korean War. July 16, 1953 to July 15, 1956. During his service he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Ann Clark.
After his service, he was employed by Houston Lighting and Power and retired in 1982 after 35 years. Mr. Gunn actively scouted able-bodied young men from the Magnolia area to apply at HL&P. He loved raising livestock and shared a small herd of cattle with his father. He volunteered in his community by coaching baseball, softball and was the leader for the Magnolia 4-H Club. Since Alton was preceded in death by his first wife, he met and married Susan Ashabranner Gunn. They have been together for almost 40 years.
