Obituary for
Florence Eva Flanagan (Wright)
Florence W. Flanagan
Beloved Mother/Grandmother/Great-Grandmother, Florence Eva Wright Flanagan passed peacefully to our Lord Friday, January 20, 2023. She was born to Eva Lucila Parsons and Alexander T. Wright on November 7, 1923, in New Orleans, La.
She grew up in New Orleans and was married July 2, 1945, to William F. Flanagan. She dedicated her life to her husband and children. Florence was very creative. She did beautiful ceramics, some of which are still in the homes of her children. She was also an amazing seamstress, whether it was clothes, beautiful quilts, or a backpacking tent for her son. Some of her most wonderful pieces were made from scraps left from other projects. She called it “playing.” Gardening was also a favorite, and she was still working in the garden into her 90s. Florence had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to gently tease those she loved. She was our matriarch and in her quiet way kept us all together. She loved us all unconditionally and that love was returned by all the family.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 64 years, William F. Flanagan. Survivors are children Linda Eckert (husband Bill) of Georgetown, TX and William D. Flanagan (wife Kristin) of Houston; grandchildren Jeff Eckert (wife Michelle) of Kingwood and Ryan Eckert (wife Briseyda) of Georgetown; great-grandchildren Logan and Hannah Eckert, Kingwood, and Rubí Eckert, Georgetown.
