A native Arkansan, Marylynn spent her early life in northeastern Arkansas before her family relocated to Memphis, TN during her late adolescence. After graduating high school, she worked at Cook's Cotton Co. where she met and married Sanford H. Holloway, Sr. Their marriage took them from Tennessee to New Mexico, Louisiana and Texas. After 19 years, she landed in Humble where she raised her children. She was dedicated to everything she did while working for local businessmen and the Houston Chronicle until her retirement in 2009. She possessed profound strength and fortitude which carried her through a long-life filled with great love, formidable health battles, a multitude of blessings, but most of all God's grace.

Her personality was a prism of wit, conviction, and a natural sweetness that drew her close to those who knew and loved her. She could smirk in just a way that brought her mother back to life. She would pen a note that stayed with you as a chuckle in your heart. Her love for baseball and basketball came from her father and brought her much joy; She is an eternal Houston Astros and Houston Rockets fan.

She was not defined by the experiences of her life, instead fashioned them to suit memories that sustained her in later years.

She is loved, will always be loved, by her loving legacy of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. God's speed mama, until we see you again
