Obituary for
Donna Lucille Srkala (Shew)
Donna Lucille Srkala (Shew), or Memee as her loved ones called her, was born in Houston, Texas on May 28, 1938. She was one of the first 50 babies born at Jefferson Davis hospital. She also attended Jefferson Davis High School, class of ‘56. Sometime after graduation she went on to marry and had two daughters, Edith Klynn and Amy Elaine. She later adopted her granddaughter Strawberry Kelley Diane.
Being a single mom, Donna worked in the bakery at Kroger's and later the cafeteria at Jersey Village High School in Cy-Fair ISD. In the summertime it was Girl Scout camp for 3 months. In 2002, after nearly 30 years, she retired as production manager at the Food Production Center for Cy-Fair ISD. After retiring she was able to do more of the things she enjoyed. These pleasures included embroidery, painting, making dolls and she enjoyed nothing more than kicking back in the recliner with her score pad watching an Astros baseball game.
She is survived by her daughter Kelley Srkala of Houston; her granddaughter Amanda Ferrell of Liberty; 3 great grandkids ~ Sierra Ferrell of Houston, Victoria (Tori) Ferrell of Kenefick, and Chad Ferrell of Liberty; 1 great-great granddaughter Amelia Munoz of Houston; brother William (Bill) Shew of Alpine; and sister Linda Shew of Houston.
Preceding her in death are her Fur baby Bosley, Houston; 2 daughters ~ Edith Klynn and Amy Jones, both of Houston; 3 brothers ~ Clifford Shew, Leslie Shew, and Herman Shew, all of Houston; 2 sisters ~ Wanda Fay and Melba Carpenter, both of Houston; and her parents William W. Shew and Thelma T. Shew (Smith) of Houston.
Memee will be missed dearly by many people who love her, but she is home now with the rest of the family who are no longer with us and her beloved fur baby, Bosley.
