Alice Hooker, 79, died July 17, 2021.
Visitation will be held at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble on Friday, July 23, 2021
From 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 24, 2021.
Alice Hooker was born on March 10, 1942 in McCaskill, Arkansas.
She was the oldest of 4 children born to Lester Lloyd and Norma Coleman Garner.
In June of 1965, Alice moved with her family to Houston where she lived for the rest of her life.
She and her husband, Windle, married in 1959 and had 3 sons.
Alice and Windle were the owners of O.W. Hooker Floor Company and worked together in the business for more than 49 years.
Alice was a student of nature who loved trees, trees, flowers and birds. She was happiest with her shovel in her hand digging in her flowerbeds. Neighbors looked for the annual
Appearance of thousands of red and yellow tulips in the yard. Nursery hopping was a
Favorite activity. She loved Pyrex Bowls and her collection is the envy of her relatives.
Alice and Windle hosted their extended family every year for Thanksgiving Turkey and ham,
With her famous cheesecake to follow. Opening presents was an annual tradition at their house.
The Christmas tree was up year-round and presents (with bows for everyone) were piled high.
Many happy memories for everyone!
Alice is survived by her husband, Windle Hooker. They were married 62 years.
Other survivors include her son, Kenneth Hooker and wife, Brenda, and son, Steven Hooker.
Grandchildren are Rodney Hooker, Jeremy Hooker, Keisha Miller, Nikki Traver, Steven A. hooker,
Skyler Hooker, Brandon Hooker, and Spencer Hooker.
Great Grandchildren include Kayla Hooker, Danielle Hooker, Benjamin Miller, and Olivia Tarver.
Alice is also survived by her sister, Linda Dunning, and numerous nieces and nephews.
