Phillip Andrew Cooper passed to eternal life in Heaven on Friday, May 7, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Violet Cooper, and his brother Dennis Cooper. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Valerie Cooper, his daughter Cheri Jaster and husband Michael, and his son Bradley Cooper and wife Sarah. He was blessed with five grandchildren: Gracie Jaster, Zachary Jaster, Skyler Cooper, Nolan Jaster, and Landon Cooper. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Cooper, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of loving friends. Phillip was born on a hot, summer day at Heights Hospital in Houston, Texas, on August 14, 1954. He was the third baby to Curtis and Violet Cooper. He had two older brothers, Michael and Dennis. His Father, Curtis, said he hardly ever cried, and you would never know there was a baby in the house. In September of 1960, Phil’s cousin Lisa was born, and it would turn out to be one of the biggest, life changing events of his life. While visiting the newborn Lisa in the hospital, Curtis and Violet met the pastors of Bethel Church, who were the Grandparents of his future wife. Brother and Sister Gatlin invited Curtis and Violet to church and helped lead them to the Lord. The Cooper family became members of Bethel and raised their family. Seventeen years later, Phil married the Gatlin’s granddaughter, Valerie Gray, on October 8, 1977. Phil and Val built a life together. Phil followed in his Father’s footsteps and became a master carpenter. He worked for Parker House from 1980 until he retired in 2017. Phil and Val raised two children, Cheri and Bradley. They also raised their children in the same church where this all began. Phil enjoyed being with his family, fishing, watching the Astro’s, Food Network, and critiquing home renovation shows. The legacy he leaves behind is a Christian foundation that was laid for him and his family generations ago. His wife, children, and grandchildren are all serving God, so the Lord’s plan was fulfilled for Phillip Cooper.
