Raymon Lee Harrell
Raymon Harrell, age 76, passed on February 25, 2021. Raymon is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandy Harrell, his son and daughter-in-law, Toby & Monica Harrell, grandson, Conor Harrell, his sister Audrey Grisham, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Joyce Acker and her husband Rick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oran and Lockie Harrell, brother Jack Perry, sisters Alma Coleman & Billie Joyce Cardwell.
Raymon was born on February 11, 1945 at his grandmother's home in Grangeland,Texas. He met his wife on Thanksgiving evening in 1960 at Bo Woods Cafe and fell in love at first sight. Raymon and Sandy married on October 3, 1963 in a midnight service. Raymon served his country in several capacities. First as a flight engineer in the Air Force, and then later working at Bell Helicopter building Hewey Helicopters for the Vietnam War.
Raymon continued his work in the aircraft industry when he moved into commercial aircraft mechanics, first with TTA, TI, Continental Airlines, and he retired from United Airlines. He received the Charles Taylor Award for working 50 years in aviation. In the midst of his aviation career, Raymon also operated a machine shop for 15 years servicing the community repairing automotive engines.
Raymon was also well known as he served as a deacon under three pastors at First Assembly Church in New Caney. Raymon was a man of few words, who spoke when he had wisdom to share or jokes to make you laugh. He loved to fish and hunt. He also had an ear for music and taught himself to play the guitar. He was very talented, but very rarely played for anyone in public as he was a private man.
Raymon was well respected and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
