Shirley Marcaccio “Nanny” was born on October 9, 1939. She was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She passed from this life in San Leon, Texas on January 27, 2021.
Shirley was born in Houston, Texas as Shirley Jane Gage to Clarence & Ida Gage. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Freddie Gage, and her beloved son, Michael Black.
Shirley was married to Paul Marcaccio, at the time of her passing. Paul and Shirley were members at Sagemont Church where she loved attending her bible study classes on Sundays. Shirley truly enjoyed taking donuts and spending time fellowshipping with her precious friends. She was a people person, she never met a stranger and seemed to always know someone wherever she went. In her younger years she was adopted by her children’s friends as their second Mom. They loved hanging out at her house even when her own kids weren’t home. They lovingly called her “Momma Shirley” or “The Hawk”. She knew everything about all of them. She treasured the memories she made with all of them and kept in contact with most all of them throughout her life. Shirley was special, she was one of a kind.
Shirley is survived by her three children: Randy Black & wife, Janet; Johnny Black & wife, Sharon; Renee Phillips & husband, Mark. She also leaves to cherish her memories her grandchildren: Jason & wife, Tammy; Ashley & husband, Jason; Josh & wife, Jessica Rose; Jessica & husband, Jimmy; Russell & wife, Jessie; James & wife, Krystine; Lauren & husband, Kyle; and Lindsay, Jacob and Cameron. The light of Shirley’s life were her great-grandchildren: Lane, Haley, Jaxon, Ava, Jett, Juliette, Joelle, Jewel, Jensen, Jenevieve, Jayleen, Peyton, Braxton and Kacen --
who all lovingly referred to her as their Nanny.
She is also survived by her sisters: Linda Brittain, Marilyn Stewart, Sharon Gibson and her step children: Rex & Karen Clark, Antoinette Marie and Alan Cook, granddaughters Kristi Lynn and her husband Chris Hatton, Amanda Kay and her husband Ty Henson, great-grandson Hunter Hatton along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, & lifelong friends.
Shirley also leaves behind her loyal companion & best friend “ChiChi” (her little chihuahua) he was her little guard dog who never left her side.
