Maria Del Rosario “Chayo” Luna went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 1 surrounded by her family, her parrot and her 3 beloved dogs. Maria was born on August 30,1948 in Mission, Texas to Abundia and Miguel Garza. She married her husband, Manuel, on June 14, 1967 and they lived a full life until his death in 2007.
Maria was always the center of attention everywhere she went. She loved hanging out in her garage, playing cards and poker and giving everyone a hard time. She enjoyed going to the casino and loved shrimp cocktail at Connie’s Seafood. She spent hundreds of hours watching the world go by while watching her dogs play in the yard and loved to talk to her neighbors and her sisters on the phone. She was a devout Catholic and loved music and games. She was often seen dancing in the driveway to Juan Gabriel.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband Manuel, her parents Abundia and Miguel Garza, her brother Leonard Garza, Sr and sisters Maria Socorro Saranana and Maria Estela Rivera. She is survived by her children Elizabeth Luna, Manuel Luna, Jr. and his wife Venay, Miguel Luna, Sr and Jose Luis Garza, Sr. She is also survived by her siblings Maria Elena Trevino, Maria Juanita Kirkland, Cristobal Loredo and Maria Acevedo. Maria was also beloved Grandma to Alicia Luna, Micaela Luna, Miguel Luna Jr., Alejandro Luna, Justine Garza, Jose Garza, Jr. and Jonathan Garza. She also leaves behind numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews and many friends.
