Obituary for
Joyce Evelyn Lloyd (Wood)
Joyce Evelyn Lloyd, loving wife, mother and Mimi, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020. Joyce was born on March 9, 1945, in Bastrop, Texas to Elmer and Doris (Reid) Wood.
Joyce had a passion for painting, gaming, and laughing. She was quick witted, loving, compassionate, sassy, competitive, spontaneous, and creative. She was loyal to those she loved, and friendly to those she just met.
Joyce wore many hats. Her long-time ministry was her “Angel for your pocket”. She was a member of the DPPT Painting Chapter. She was always willing to donate her time to fund raisers and charities. She was the coach of her daughter’s softball team, and even ran a concession stand at rodeos. She taught Sunday School for years and ministered to many youths in Tennessee and Texas. Growing up, her kids often chose to “hang out” at the house for game nights. She made everyone feel welcome and they always left laughing and full of her delicious food.
She is preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Doris Wood; sister Linda Kirkland; and nephew Richard. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Lloyd of 45 years; step-son David and wife Michelle Lloyd of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee; son Brad and wife Jessica Haney of Newport, Tennessee; daughter Christie Davidson of Willis, Texas; and daughter Kim and husband Derek Whitehill of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren: Jeremy, Nicole, Seth, Alex, Isabel, Dawson, Noah, and great-granddaughter Hattie; brother Bobby and wife Ginna Wood of Bellville, Texas; sister Laurie and husband Morris Herring of New Braunfels, Texas; and many nephews and nieces.
