Obituary for
Robert Wilpitz Sr.
Robert (Bob) Kenneth Wilpitz, Sr., 85, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, in Marble Falls, TX, after thriving 11 years since his stroke. Bob was born on November 18, 1934, in Humble, TX, to Louis and Jewel (Ludtke) Wilpitz, Sr., Bob was raised in Refugio, TX, and graduated from Refugio High School in 1952. In 1956, Bob received a Plan 2 BA in Pre- Law with a Major in Political Science from the University of Texas in Austin. He was a proud Longhorn, and TX-EX Lifetime Member. After six months active duty, 2nd Lt. Army ROTC, Bob started his career in the oil industry as a Landman at Tenneco Oil Company. He loved his job as a Landman, and worked in Lafayette, LA, Corpus Christi, Midland, TX, Durango, Denver, CO, and OKC, OK. He retired at age 55, after 34 years with Tenneco, in 1990, as the Division Land Manager in OKC. Bob was elected President of the Oklahoma City Association of Profession Landmen (OCAPL) and was very proud that he and his son would be the only father and son elected as President of the OCAPL. Bob was a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, Sam Houston Chapter, and enjoyed the fellowship and gatherings at local and national events. Bob loved hunting, fishing, and especially the Rocky Mountains and his home in Durango, CO. The last 11 years of his life, Bob lived with his family and was a blessing to everyone he encountered, from the Meals on Wheels delivery team, to the crowd at his granddaughter’s basketball games. Bob touched every person’s heart he met and always had that big “Durango Bob” smile on his face. Bob truly was the best example of Christ on earth; our Superman. Survivors include his one and only son, Robert Kenneth Wilpitz, Jr. and wife Rhonda, of Norman, OK, two daughters, Kathy and husband, Bryan Coffey, of Marble Falls, TX, Susan and husband, Mark Pordos, of Chandler, OK. nine grandchildren, Robert Coffey, his one and only grandson, and wife, Haley, Caitlin Coffey, and husband T.C. Kuhlmann, Jewel Nicole Pordos, Taylor Ann Coffey, Allison Marie Pordos, Kristin Laura Wilpitz, Samantha Grace Pordos, Victoria Michelle Wilpitz, and Valerie Susan Coffey, one and only great granddaughter, Karis Elizabeth Coffey, one brother, Louis Wayne Wilpitz Jr., and one sister, Beverly Ann McLaughlin. His funeral will be held at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble, TX on Saturday, May 16th, visitation at 11:00 am, service at 2:00 pm, Humble, TX. The family wishes to express their most sincere appreciation to New Century Hospice staff, especially Tracy Morgan, for the exceptional care and devotion given to Bob during his final days.
