Obituary for
Adele Saikaly Janji
Our beloved mother Adele Yousef Saikaly Janji went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. She was born in Zahle, Lebanon in April 1924 to Yousef and Malake Saikaly. She married her sweetheart George Stephan Janji who passed away in 1967. She was the cherished mother to ten children. Three children predecease her (two unnamed daughters who died after birth, and a son Nabil Janji) She is survived by two sons, Joseph Janji and family, and Stephan George Janji. She is also survived by five daughters; Noha Janji, (the wife of Elie Chebli ) and their family, Lili Janji, Amal Janji Kuglar and her son Ray, Zena Saikaly, (the wife of Maurice Saikaly) and their family, and Rene Sawaya and her daughter Carol.
She had two brothers, Michael Yousef Saikaly and George Yousef Saikaly, who predeceased her. She also had two sisters; Laurice Saikaly (now deceased) and her only surviving sibling Emily Asbati (the wife of Louise Asbati ) and their family.
Adele Janji is also survived by five generations of family members; including the members of the Saikaly, Janji, Chebli, Sawaya, Kuglar, Bouzbouri, Boujacli, Saba, Wihbe, Srour, Rachid, Ortega, Aguero, Hariz, Guzman , Pouzbouris, Fahme, and Moutran families; who live both domestically and overseas in Lebanon and Australia.
Everyone who knew Adele, loved her, and she loved them. She truly followed the teachings of the Savior and she loved her neighbor as herself. She was a devout member of the Catholic Church and she loved the Lord. Although we are deeply saddened that she died, we find comfort in knowing that she is safe in the arms of Jesus.
