Nancy Ann Nanowsky
A much beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, 60, died suddenly
and unexpectedly on October 14, 2022, at her home in Houston,
Texas. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, and raised in Boardman,
Nancy arrived to Baytown, Texas in 1978 when her father
moved south to earn a promotion within the United States Steel
Corporation. She began a decades long career of professional
caregiving when she worked in nursing homes as a teenager.
Until the time of her death, she worked for years as a Direct
Support Professional at Vita Living, a 501(c)3 non-profit that
provides long-term comprehensive care and support for adults
and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in
Houston.
She graduated from Lee College, A.F.A, 1984,
and Ross Sterling High School, 1980. She served as a
parishioner at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Predeceased by her
parents, Marilyn and John, her sister Mary Jo, and her much
loved Pomeranian, Bella; she is survived by her siblings,
Kathleen Mukamal, Kenneth Nanowsky, and Judy Roberts, and
eight nephews and nieces. Her wake will be held at Rosewood
Funeral Home in Humble, Texas, October 20, 2022 from 6:00 to
8:00 p.m. Her funeral will be held at St. Mary Magdalene
Catholic Church in Humble, Texas, October 21, 2022 at 11:00
a.m. Donations in her honor can be made to the Houston Zoo.
