Sammie
In the early 70s, my parents asked Frank, their good friend and neighbor, to be my godfather. He said yes and became my "Uncle Frank." I have many treasured and special memories of him, including nearly missed exits, hilarious misspellings, flea market visits, and his distinctive voice, but this one is the strongest: my family was visiting the Bassetts for a few days, and I remember saying to him, "I'm sad that we have to go home tomorrow." He said something like, "Sammie, try not to think about that. Enjoy today." Wise words from the smart, funny, and caring man I was fortunate to know and to call my godfather. May he rest in peace.
