Obituary for
Penelope Ann White (Crawford)
Penelope “Penny” Ann White, 65, died unexpectedly on Friday afternoon, November 24, 2017, at her home in Pasadena, Texas. Daughter of the late Raymond and Phyllis Crawford, Penny was the loving and devoted wife of Chris for 35 years. She is also survived by her son, Brian LaFonte and wife Lauren, daughters, Amy White and husband Jeremy, Heather Verm and husband Clint, and Courtni White. Her grandchildren, Logan, Gunnar, Caylee, Paislee, Caiden and Cody affectionately called her “Nannie.”
A lifelong resident of Pasadena and graduate of Pasadena High School, Penny spent many years working in the insurance industry. However, her greatest vocation was that as a devoted wife and mother. Penny was a generous soul. She unselfishly invested her life in her family and friends, as well as many causes that make the world a better place. Penny was a dedicated supporter of the Alzheimer's Association, and she enjoyed volunteering locally for Project Joy and Hope.
Despite the physical challenges Penny faced the last years of her life, she truly understood that real power lies in the way a person chooses to respond when unable to control what’s happening. Penny relied upon Jesus Christ to empower her to be a courageous woman who lived a beautiful life in service to Him. A loving angel, tender, tough, and strong, she will be forever remembered for her kindness and sincerity and her ability to “dance in the rain.”
A memorial service to celebrate Penny’s life will be held on Monday, November 27, at noon at Rosewood Funeral Home, 3939 Pasadena Boulevard, Pasadena, TX 77503. Donations in lieu of flowers may be directed to Alzheimer's Association Houston & Southeast Texas, 6055 S Loop East at Long Drive, Houston, TX 77087 or Project Joy and Hope, P. O. Box 5111, Pasadena, TX 77508.
