Catherine Ann Burkett (Turney)
Catherine Ann Burkett (Turney), 59, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 4, 2015 in Houston, Texas. Catherine was active in church and as a 12 year breast cancer survivor supported Susan G. Komen Foundation and Relay for Life, and was also a supporter of Houston St. Patricks Day Parade. Catherine graduated from Smiley High School in 1974 and graduated from National Education Center, North Bryman Campus with a Medical Assistant Degree in 1988. She worked for Dr. J.O.S. Okeke for 10 years as a Medical Assistant and then Village Family Practice where she was a Medical Assistant and Medical Coder for 15 years. Catherine was a long time children’s Sunday School Teacher at Hibbard Memorial Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Marvin Turney. Catherine is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, David H. Burkett; daughter, Amanda Coello and husband Herman; son, Matthew L. Deats; granddaughter, Amelia Coello; mother, Marian Turney; brothers, Richard Turney Sr. and wife Belinda, Jerry Turney and wife Yvonne; sisters, Cindy Ramsey and husband Scott, and Phyllis Hancock; many nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Rosewood Funeral Home Humble. Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Rosewood Funeral Home Chapel Humble. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
