Obituary for
Betty Jo Patton
Our beloved mother, Betty Jo Patton, entered Heaven on May 13, 2023 at the age of 92. She was born on January 9, 1931 in Houston, Texas. She was a woman with a strong faith in Jesus Christ and she will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert C. Patton, her parents, Lester and Carrie Darneal and her younger brother, Pastor E.M. “Happy” Darneal.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Patton, Pastor Robert Patton, her daughter-in-love, Amy Patton and the joy of her life, her granddaughter, Bella Grace Patton as well as sister-law, Jonnie Darneal, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom was a graduate of Reagan High School in Houston and an accomplished musician and singer. She was married to the love of her life for over 56 years and was a founding member of Faith Family Church in New Caney for over 26 years. She was employed by Gulf Oil Company right out of high school and during her teenage years, she played and sang on the radio with her brother, Happy.
Mom was a caregiver most of her life to her parents and her oldest son Rick. She was very protective of her family and loyal to her friends. Mom made a lasting mark on all of those whose lives she touched. Her life was a shining example of grace, strength and perseverance.
Our family would like to thank the staff of Total Loving Care Assisted Living Facility and Living Waters Hospice for taking such great care of mom during the last five months of her life. We want to acknowledge the owners of Total Loving Care and Living Waters Hospice, Lee and Terry Bowles, as well as Mom’s Physician, Dr. Brannon George, all the caregivers, aides and especially mom’s nurses, Tashika and Ashley. Your love and care for our mother will never be forgotten!
