Ryan Thomas Mecredy passed away at Kingwood Hospital on May 9, 2023 at the age of 44.

Ryan is survived by his loving wife of almost 18 years, Kathryn. They were married in Cozumel, Mexico on July 16, 2005. He is also predeceased by his three daughters who adored him, Emily (age 14), Camille (age 11) and Genevieve (age 7), his father Tom Mecredy, his mother Lana Mecredy, his sister Molly McNulty, her husband Jake and his two nieces Wilma and Frances.

Ryan was born in Naperville, Illinois on January 16, 1979. He graduated from Anderson High School in Austin in 1997 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in finance from TCU where he graduated suma cum laude in 2001. He worked as the Director of Correspondent Banking at Veritex Community Bank and cherished all of the relationships he built in the banking community over the past two decades.

More than anything else Ryan was the ultimate family man. He went to every one of Genevieve’s soccer games and practices. He cheered on Emily and Camille as they performed competitive cheer. He rooted from the sidelines at football games for Emily who was an eighth grade cheerleader at Riverwood Middle School.

Ryan helped the girls with their homework—especially math which was his specialty. He made breakfast and lunches for his daughters every morning, drove them to school and then picked them up. He frequently bought them Chik-Fil-A and came up to the school to eat with them at lunch. He taught Genevieve’s first grade Sunday school class at Second Baptist this year where he could frequently be seen with several kids dangling from his arms if you peaked inside the classroom window. He was the ultimate comfort and support to his wife, his girls, his mother and anyone else who knew him or needed him.

He adopted Houston as his own and always rooted for the Astros (unless they were playing the Cubs). His other favorite teams were the Chicago Bears and the TCU Horned Frogs. Besides his family, his other love was for the game of golf. The golf course was his home away from home and his crowning achievement was his hole-in-one last summer.

His will be remembered for his endearing smile, kind eyes and generous heart. He had a quiet but profoundly true faith in Jesus. To know him was to love him and as his sister Molly says, he never had an enemy. He will be loved and missed and his legacy will continue on into future generations.
