Carol Cook

Sharing the information for the service of my uncle and my second pastor, Bishop Charles W Colegrove. His father was my first pastor. He pastored in Bay City MI and Grand Rapids MI and held several offices in the Michigan District. I loved him for his patience with me and the time he and Aunt Laura took to ensure I stayed on the front row and in church. I understand so much better the cost and sacrifice of a pastor and his wife to work one on one with people. I will always be grateful for the way that they lead the services together, with God's spirit and leading always being first. The music and preaching were always first class, and worship as on to the Lord was always first. During some of my late teens and early 20's, I remember Dan and Sandy Davis doing some of the music and then Violet and many others, and the sound was professional, but the worship as on to God came first. I have many videos of the choir and one of my favorites with Chuch, Ushanna, Violet, Dawn, Jeff, and Urshanna's sister Dawn singing and it always blesses me. In later years I was still very fortunate to have many hours of talks where faith was instilled and so much knowledge and good advice. I have 2 albums that they made and one is of the Michigan District Choir and one of the songs my Aunt Laura wrote and they sang it together. So many people on that cover of the album that I looked up to and still do. That song, with them singing, was Only the Lord. The values that you gain from pastors and their wives that they pour into you are invaluable. Every time I saw Uncle Chuck I would say, thank you for pouring into me, caring for me, loving me, and sometimes protecting me. For being there for weddings, some things mean more then you can ever say. Today, I just want Aunt Laura to know that she is loved and that I honor her and Uncle Chuck today and that I believe he knew that and she knows that. There are things that I still do because of them. The bible says to honor those whom honor is due, and today I can say, I honor this man and I am praying for this family. Melodie, Art, Violet, and Chuck, I am praying for you and your families too. Thank you for sharing your parents with many many people. Love you all.
