Obituary for
Ida Joyce Pustejovsky
Ida “Joyce” Hensarling Pustejovsky, age 86, of Magnolia, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by
her family on Thursday, January 5, 2023. She was born on October 25, 1936 in Galveston, Texas to Oran
and Mary Ellen Hensarling.
Joyce ran off and married the love of her life, Gilbert Daniel Pustejovsky at a very young age. Together
they had 3 children, Gilbert “Danny” Pustejovsky, Susan Kay Ricketts, and Ray Lee Pustejovsky. They
raised their children in Houston until Joyce moved to Magnolia, Texas after her home was destroyed by
Ike to be near her granddaughter Angie.
She went to work after the kids were born for Weingarten’s and later retiring from Rice Food Market.
Early on while the kids were little Joyce enjoyed quilting in her garage on Ave T with Gilbert’s sisters.
After she went to work this hobby went on the back burner until her retirement. Joyce’s greatest love
was being Granny to her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.
She always had a houseful. The more the merrier, and everyone always enjoyed her cooking. She will
surely be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert, father Oran L Hensarling, mother Mary Ellen Bledsoe
Hensarling, sister Mary Edith Rogers, brother Oran “Buddy” Hensarling, and daughter-in-law Diane
Pustejovsky.
She is survived by her children Danny Pustejovsky and wife Wendy, Susan Kay Ricketts, and Ray Lee
Pustejovsky. Brother Jan Hensarling and wife Paula. 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 5 greatgreat grandchildren and 1 on the way as well as several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Joyce’s daughter Susan and granddaughter Ashley Hare for diligently taking care
of her every need during the last months she was with us. You are both appreciated more than you can
imagine.
