Shirley Jo Morgan
Shirley Jo Morgan, 87, of Houston Texas, passed away in her home on 3am October 3, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. Shirley was born on June 14th, 1935, in Houston Texas.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband John H Morgan, parents Henry Lee Hunter and Rena Hunter Torrieri, brother Raymond Earl Hunter (wife Lillie Mae), son John H Morgan Jr. (wife Brenda Joyce) brother-in-law Lonnie (Bubba) Miskall.
Shirley is left to share her memory by brother Tommie Lee Hunter (wife, Carolyn), sister Henrietta Miskell, stepsisters Toni Myler and Judi Torrieri, daughter Dianna Jo Watts-Keasling (husband Johnny Lee), son Donald Arthur Morgan (Husband Humberto), grandsons Kat Herrera, Roman Herrera, Kevin Morgan and Richard Herrera, and seven great-grandchildren.
Shirley attended Jeff Davis High School in Houston TX, helped her mother and father run a neighborhood convenient store where she met the love of life John H Morgan. He told her he broke wild horses for a living, which he didn’t, but he still caught her heart. John and Shirley married March 7th, 1952 and shared a beautiful life of 62 years. They gave their hearts to Christ at Plymouth Assemble of God in Houston where John preached, and Shirley sang. During the summer tent revivals Shirley was heard singing blocks away. In the 70’s they co-pastored beside Bobby and Doris Morgan at Moss Hill Assembly of God. Shirley led the singing, and secretarial work. They also owned and operated Morgan Tire Service. God shifted their lives to accept the call to pastor Souls Harbor Pentecostal Church in 1989 for 11 years.
Shirley’s interests where being a great mom and a wonderful wife. She also enjoyed singing, cooking, crossword puzzles, reading, quilting, traveling, and spending time at home with her family. She was also very well known for her banana pudding. Shirley was a caring and loving wife, mom, sister and friend to all she knew.
