Obituary for William Isaac Mays III

William Isaac Mays III
William Isaac Mays III (Bill) of Kingwood passed away on July 31, 2022 surrounded by his family. Bill was born on September 10, 1940 in Los Angeles to William I. Mays, Jr. and Emma Fay Mays. During his school years in Cedar Hill, Texas, he excelled academically and in sports. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army, serving for eight years. Upon completing his service as a Staff Sargent, Bill moved to Houston and began working for Robbins Chevrolet in Humble. He worked at Robbins for forty-seven years.
Bill loved to fish, gamble and be around his family and friends. He enjoyed movies, great food, and spending time with his closest friend, Ricky Bishop. He was a sharp dresser, loved music and especially that of Elvis….he even had a pair of blue suede shoes.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents William I. Mays and Emma Fay Sims Graham, son David Eric Mays, sister Evelyn Ruth Wilkerson, and brothers-in-law Don Wilkerson and Ron Hart.
He is survived by his son Marc Mays and wife Laura of Tucson, AZ, son Brad Mays and wife Holly; grandson Cayden Mays and granddaughter Rachel Mays; brothers Joe Mays of Kilgore, TX and Kendall Mays of Dallas; and sister Honey Hart of Longview, TX.
His life will be celebrated Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble, TX.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a donation in Bill’s name to any of the foundations, agencies and departments of the Veterans Affairs that benefit our veterans. Three examples of many are the Bob Woodruff Family Foundation to support troops, veterans and their families; Homes for Our Troops, providing custom adapted homes for severely injured post 911 veterans; Wounded Warrior Project www./ or any local VFWs.
