Obituary for
Bobbie Claire Webster (Newton)
On Thursday, June 2, 2022, Bobbie Claire Newton Webster passed away peacefully in her apartment in Kingwood, Texas. Although her body might have given out at the age of 89, her legacy of love and kindness lives on for all of those who called her mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.
Bobbie was born on July 9, 1932 at Memorial Hospital in Houston, making Clara Belle Talley and Robert Newbold Newton first-time parents. Bobbie was later joined by three younger brothers; Robert, Ronald and then Robin.
Although Bobbie lived for a short time in San Francisco, she spent the majority of her 89 years in the southeast part of Texas, including Houston, Galveston, League City and Kingwood. She met the love of her life, Jesse Lee Webster, on a double date with her best friend. Although Jesse wasn’t her date that night, he ended up being her date for the next 69 years. They were married on April 8, 1948 and had three children: Linda (Lynn) Ann Fair, Kenneth Lee Webster and David Lee Webster.
Bobbie dedicated her life to the job of motherhood. With three children by the age of 22, Bobbie learned quickly how to manage a household and be a supportive wife as her husband’s career in auto part sales developed. By the time she had grandchildren calling her Nanny, she had earned the reputation of a splendid cook, a skilled seamstress, and a dear confidant who always knew just the right thing to say. She might not have learned to swim (despite many lessons at MacGregor Park Pool), she did learn to drive in her 20s, roll down a hill in a barrel in her 40s, play the dulcimer in her 50s, and paint in her 60s. She was an accomplished artist in many mediums, but it is her paintings that are most treasured by family.
In 1994, Bobbie and Jesse sold their auto part businesses and traveled the United States in their motorhome. Although it was difficult for the family to watch them leave, they always returned with interesting stories from their adventures, most of which were reflective of their shared great sense of humor. In 1999, they made their final move to Kingwood, Texas. Bobbie and Jesse spent their sunset years watching their family grow and cherishing time spent with those they loved. In 2017, Jesse passed away and Bobbie spent the next five years waiting for the next opportunity to see her beloved. While her family cherishes the memories made with her during these five years, we know Papa’s first words upon her passing were probably “Well, girl, it’s about time.”
Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents, Clara Belle Talley Newton and Robert Newbold Newton; her husband, Jesse Webster; and her son, Kenneth Webster. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Fair and her husband, Don, and their children, Jerri and Mark Monbaron and Greg and Tracie Bauer Jr.; her son, Dave Webster and his wife, Mona, and their children, Mark and Angela Webster, Daley and Gerrit von Wenckstern and Lacey and Aaron Swarts; Ken’s children, Laurie and Lance Dahse, Sean and Nina Webster, and Justin Webster; and additional children by marriage, Greg Bauer, Sr., Jan Jordan and Brenda Webster. Great grandchildren include: Brandon Webster, Kenny Brewster, Joseph and Christian Webster, Darrien Tidwell, Alyssa Tidwell, Markus Webster, Dylan Monbaron, Sarah Monbaron, Sean Webster, Jr., Ryder Bauer, Skylar Bauer, Grace Webster, Brax von Wenckstern, Josephine Swarts, Eily von Wenckstern, and August von Wenckstern. Great-great granddaughter, Adalynn Webster and soon to arrive great-great grandson, Elias Owen Webster.
Graveside service will be July 9, 2022 at 12:00 pm followed by a celebration of life at the Cremation Chapel at Rosewood Funeral Home Chapel in Humble, Texas.
