Obituary for Josephine Gonzales (Martinez)

Our dear sweet mother, Josephine Gonzales went to be with the Lord on June 5th, 2022 at the age of 84. Josephine was born to Pedro and Francis Martinez on August 23rd, 1937 in Monterrey Mexico.
She is preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Francis Martinez, her loving husband of 38 years Louis Gonzales, her beloved daughter Mary Alice Gallegos and brothers Reginaldo Martinez, Robert Martinez and Santos Martinez.
Left to cherish her memory are sons Alfred Martinez and wife Hazel, George Martinez and wife
Miriam and son-in-law Melchor Gallegos Sr, as well as her grandchildren Brandon, Andrea, Melissa, Crystal, Deanna, Natalie, Melchor Jr., Christina, and Laura. Also 26 greatgrandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Siblings Paquita, Tony, Willie, Patsy, Pedro Jr., Roy, Ricky, Annie, and Rudy, along with many nieces and nephews. Lest we not forget Chloe who laid by her side until the very end.
Josephine was not big on travel but somehow Louis convinced her into traveling to several parts of the country in their lifetime always making fond memories of each trip. They loved having company over throughout the years with their favorite catchphrase “you are leaving because you want to”. Everyone was always welcome with open arms. They loved hosting birthday parties through the years for their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren! There was always a party or two a month along with all holidays and special occasions. None of which were ever complete without a game of Loteria in hopes of a big win but mostly to laugh and enjoy being around her loved ones. Josephine loved to play bingo on Sundays or any day of the week when there was a chance to go. Mom always made the best Mexican food you will ever eat and her Mexican rice will certainly be missed by one and all. And you always knew there would be unlimited popsicles or ice cream sandwiches in her freezer at all times!
Words cannot express how loved and deeply missed she will be by her loved ones, her friends and neighbors. We find comfort and peace in knowing she is with the Lord in Heaven. Amen.
