Larry Kiger

Uncle Al has been a part of my family since I was a kid living at Lake Village, Indiana. Al lived with us on the farm for a while, then got married to Arlene and bought a house not too far from us. One major memory of Al was, when we were kids, we had the game of running and jumping on the lid of the metal septic tank behind the farm house. One day, when Al was there, the three of us kids were jumping on the septic tank lid, and, as Joan jumped on and off the lid, I was next. Well, it seems that when Joan jumped on the lid, the lid moved slightly, and then when I jumped on the lid, it flipped up and I went down feet first in the tank with all if its contents. It was Uncle Al that pulled me out of the tank with all of the tank contents clinging to me. He has never stopped laughing ever since. Even today, I think that Joan tipped the lid intentionally. I was fortunate enough to visit Al and Lil at his Houston home while I was building some manufacturing plants in the Dallas and Ft. Worth area over the years. He had a pool table at the house, and he enjoyed playing pool with me, until I beat him one game. Then he was too tired to continue. Since Al relocated to Florida to be close to Lori, I have talked with Al almost every month until he passed. I really miss my uncle Al. Larry
