Merle Jacqueline Goodwin passed away July 19, 2021 in Pasadena, Texas. She was born on July 26, 1936 to Minnie and Otis Johnson in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She graduated from Deer Park High School in 1954.

Merle married Billy Goodwin in 1971 and they were married for 44 years until his death in 2015. They had one child, Craig.

Merle had a career in banking for many years. She began working at Pasadena State Bank, staying through many ownership and name changes and retiring as a loan assistant when it was Bank One.

In her spare time, she enjoyed painting ceramics, amassing quite a collection. As long as she was able, Merle loved her almost daily walks with her special group of walking ladies. She was a long-time member of South Main Baptist Church.
