Obituary for
Mary Logan
Mary Margaret departed this life and took her final bike ride on May 27, 2021 at 87 years old. Born on a farm in Caruthersville, in the Bootheel of Missouri, on July 24, 1933, Mary spent her early childhood in Kinfolks Ridge. She later moved to Texas, where she spent the rest of her days. Mary was the oldest of six children born to Theodore Tucker and Faythan Wigginton.
As a child, she contracted scarlet fever, and the family was quarantined for several weeks. Although her hair fell out and her skin peeled, she survived and was stronger for it. One of her happiest and most joyful memories was the surprise visit, at the end of quarantine, by her close friends, Dixie and Judy Bader.
Mary was often seen about town on her motorcycle. She traveled the back roads to listen to live music. Mary particularly enjoyed the old country music songs. She rode her bike to pool and dart tournaments, where she won many trophies. Her riding companion was her brother “Red” who strived to keep up with her. She upgraded her motorcycle when she bought a Harley at 70 years old and rode it until she was 80.
Mary worked at Brown Shoe Company, was the Hostess Cake Bread Store manager, owner of Smesny’s gas station/icehouse in Eastgate, worked at Foleys Department store, and was a retiree of TxDOT. Her most challenging job was mother, wife, and homemaker. She excelled in all that she did.
She leaves three children, Rita Dennis (Delvin), Donna Lee Savage, Raymond Lee, Jr., one sister, Shirley Tucker Thomas, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She joins many family members and friends on the other side.
Instead of flowers, consider a donation to Humble Area Assistant Ministries (HAAM) https://haamministries.org/donate. Even better, take a friend to lunch, visit a shut-in, or spend time with someone in an assisted living facility. The happiness, hope, and love you generate will last much longer than a bouquet of flowers.
Guests are requested to wear festive attire to acknowledge the celebration of life for a special and fun-loving woman.
