Obituary for Jessie Alice Chevalier (Pitchford)

Jessie Alice Chevalier (Pitchford)
Jessie Alice Chevalier was born on October 22, 1947 in Houston, TX and was promoted to her eternal reward on May 23, 2021 at the age of 73. She is reuniting with her parents, Orie & Wilnettia Pitchford, in Heaven, as well as meeting her unborn grandchild fondly known as Angel. She is survived by her loving & devoted husband of 53 years Jerry; her first son Mark, and his wife Kim, with grandchildren Garrett and Brooke; her second son, Gary, and his wife Andrea, with grandchildren Audrey and Allison; and finally her daughter, Amy Huston, her husband Tony, and step-granddaughter Lauren. Lastly, her brother Melvin Pitchford.
Alice’s life was marked by a love for God, a love for her family, and sacrifice for others. She gave her life to Jesus as a young girl, following him faithfully until the day of her passing. She raised her children to know and love the Lord (Deut 11:19-21), and served faithfully at First Baptist Church, Porter, TX, teaching Sunday School and VBS for many years. As a young woman she set her career aside, choosing instead to invest her time in raising her three children. She was a consistent volunteer in her children’s school PTA, led a Girl Scout troop for several years , and spent countless hours chauffeuring her kids to and from sport practices and school activities. At times she enjoyed the roles of being Room Mom and Team Mom for all of her children. After her children were grown, she continued to love others by working in several New Caney ISD schools, ending her career as the Attendance Secretary and Receptionist for White Oak middle School where she earned the distinction of “Paraprofessional of the Year” multiple times. Upon retirement, she made her church home at Second Baptist Church in Kingwood, TX and enjoyed being with the ladies in her Sunday School class. They were known as the ‘silver belles!”
She loved traveling with her husband, kids, and grandkids. She enjoyed visiting such destinations as Alaska, Hawaii, England, Scotland, Washington DC, Colorado, DisneyWorld, and sailed on several cruises. She loved being a wife and mother, but her favorite role was being Grammie to her four precious grandchildren. Even amid declining health, she continued to place her trust in the Lord and be friendly and kind to everyone, always striving to meet the needs of others before her own. Her warm smile and aura of love will be missed by all who knew her, especially her close family.
