James Curtis "Butch" Dow Jr.
James Curtis (Butch) Dow, Jr. of Cleveland, TX, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, May 11, 2021. Butch was born on July 6, 1936 in Baytown, TX and lived the majority of his 84 years in Cleveland, where he retired from New Caney ISD. Butch served his country in the US Navy from 1959-1965 and then continued on the waters as a tug boat captain for ~25 years. Butch loved navigating the waters and he was good at it. There wasn’t a whole lot he wasn’t good at! In Butch’s spare time he enjoyed woodworking and other projects, just like his father. He was very talented with his creations. He was also well versed in his love for God. He continually educated others and learned things about religion to continue his growth as a Christian. Butch was also a self taught guitar player
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, Ginger, his parents, his grandparents, brother Ross Steven Baldwin of Baytown, Tx, sister, Jacklynne C Pogue of Channelview, TX, two nephews and a niece. He is survived by his wife of 5 years, Linda Dow, one daughter, Tonya Dow of Baytown; one granddaughter, Briana Dow and fiance Brandon Williams; two grandsons Clayton Pennington and spouse Taylor of Cleveland, Devon Pennington of Houston; six great-grandchildren: James and Jaxon Melofsky, Kadence and Ray Williams, Brantley and Barrett Pennington; three brothers, Robert C (Bobby) Dow and wife Sandy of Cypress, TX, Bill Baldwin and wife Sandy of Golden, CO, and Perry Baldwin and wife Laura of Crosby, TX; one sister, Sandra Stevens and husband Emmitt, many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Visitation and Celebration of Life will be Friday, May 14, 2021 at Rosewood Funeral Home, Porter. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. Pallbearers Tony Current, Clayton Pennington, Brandon Pogue, Ronnie Pogue, Gary Wiggins and Brandon Williams.
