Obituary for Mitchell Williams

Mitchell Williams
Mitchell “Mitch” Wardell Williams was born on March 5, 1970 in Jackson, MS to A.C. Williams and Essie Lee Williams. He lived in Jackson, MS where his Christian walk started when he was baptized at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church at a young age. After graduating from Provine High School, he joined the U.S. Navy. Mitch served in the Navy for seven years before working for the Coast Guard Finance Center as their first Network Security Officer. After an honorable discharge in 1996, he resided in Norfolk, VA. His advancement in his career with Chevron moved him from Virginia to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. While working at Chevron for fourteen plus years, he moved to Louisiana and Texas through the advancement of his career. His final position was a Process Control Network Security Program Manager in Humble, TX. Mitch also owned a small business, Zeon Tech, for several years.
He received his Bachelor of Science from Strayer University and his Master of Business Administration from Ashford University in Organizational Leadership.
In Mitch’s spare time, he gave back to his community by volunteering at various sickle cell anemia events and the Boys and Girls Club. At a young age, he fell in love with DJing giving himself the nickname “CYD”, also known as Cool Y-Dell. His favorite slogan was “CYD in the place to be”. His love for DJing grew as him and his friend, Tonnie, began hosting various events along the gulf coast. He enjoyed singing karaoke, dancing, beat-boxing, billiards, card tricks, dominoes, and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He was most proud of his two sons, whom he loved unconditionally and raised as a single parent. Mitch will be remembered for his infectious personality, open heart, and willingness to give to others at any moment.
Mitch was preceded in death by his father A.C. Williams; two sisters: Ella Louise King and Linda Williams; and one brother: Alton Williams.
He is survived by his loving fiancé Gwendolyn Ellis-Wilson of Chesapeake, VA; two children: Andrew Williams (Courtney) and Mitchell Williams Jr (Raeven) of Ocean Springs, MS; three grandchildren: Jayden Williams, Jada Williams, and Exavier Wiggins; mother: Essie Thorton of Ridgeland, MS; six brothers: Fredie Williams (Julie) of Lavon, TX; John Williams (Linda) and Charles Williams (Denise) both of Jackson, MS; Jimmy Williams (Edna) of Dublin, GA; James Williams (Pam) of Columbus, GA; Albert Williams (Michele) San Ramon, CA; one sister: Jacqueline Williams-Stewart of Humble, TX; two half-sisters: Diane Randall of Atlanta, GA; Sandy Jordan (Robert) of Jackson, MS; best friends: Jody Pierce of Hurley, MS, Cedric Taylor of Jackson, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
