Condolences

Condolence From: Kyle Archer
Condolence: I have had Mrs. Jenkins on my mind for a long time. I didn’t know where she moved to after leaving her home in Humble. I asked a few folks but no one knew. I’m sad to read her passing but I’m forever thankful I had the privilege to know her. Mrs. Jenkins was my 6th grade reading teacher in 1988-89 school year and I really, really liked being in her class. Many of my relatives had her as a teacher and she knew a lot of my family members including my grandparents, Mae Lee and Keith Ralston. I looked at Mrs. Jenkins as my “at school grandmother” and just thought the world of her. She made me laugh just by being herself and was NEVER, I mean NEVER without her red lipstick!! She’d put it on at her desk many times and every time she saw me watching her, she’d give her big laugh and say she had just eaten and forgot to put her lips back on. VERY CLASSY and well-dressed lady! Sometimes, she’d even walk around the school in her house shoes because her feet were tired… now that’s awesome to me! She was herself all the time!!! She was a character and truly someone you just wanted to hug and spend time talking to and just treating her as your own family. I will miss you Mrs. Jenkins….. as you would tell us… “JUST COOL YOUR JETS… EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE!” I could go on and on but now I can rest my mind and still enjoy her memory daily as always have.
God Bless to ALL the family and folks that knew her and can relate to my memories too. ❤️

Condolence: My life would have taken a much different course had I not been in Mrs. Jenkins' 6th grade English class. I was only there for a few weeks and she recommended I be moved to a gifted and talented program the school was starting. I was surprised, as I had never done well in school. But Mrs. Jenkins told me that I wasn't a bad kid, she thought I was just bored. I had never had anyone believe in me like that. I had certainly never had a teacher tell me she loved me.
I visited with her a few years after I graduated just to tell her what her kindness had done for me.
I'm certain I wasn't the only kid whose life she impacted in such a wonderful way, but I am so grateful that God placed her in my path.
Rest in Christ, Mrs. Jenkins. I cannot even imagine what reward awaited you.

Condolence: Miss Jenkins was my sixth grade teacher and a huge mentor for all of us kids. She made a real difference in our lives and will be missed. I still hear her voice when I write a note or letter coaching me on my cursive writing. She was my favorite teacher and I loved her.
