Joyce Weatherby Jenkins, age 95, passed away in her home in Humble Texas on May 5, 2021. Joyce was born on April 26, 1926 in Lorena, Texas. She graduated from McGregor High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Business and Education at North Texas State University where she was in the Green Jackets as well as Who’s Who. In 1950 she married the love of her life, Thomas Harold Jenkins, they were together for 52 years. Joyce taught for over 30 years including 4th grade geography at Lakeland Elementary and was head of the 6th grade reading department at Humble Middle, retiring in May 1992. She loved to travel, play bridge, and was President of her Sunday School Class the “Believers & Doers”. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and specifically, her grandchildren!
Joyce is survived by her two children Susan Jenkins Marks of New Caney, Texas, and Matt Jenkins of Alvin, Texas; three grandchildren, Clayton Jenkins (wife Jessica), Travis Jenkins (wife Joslyn), Rachel Marks Stricklin and Britannia Cornelius; and two great-granddaughters; as well as many nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, T.H. Jenkins; her twin sister, Jean Buschmann and older sister, Doris Adams; daughter-in-law Shelly Jenkins and her grandson, Stephen Marks.

Joyce’s legacy of kindness, joy, and strength will live on in the hearts and minds of the many lives she touched and inspired throughout her life.
