Obituary for
Dick Young Jr.
Dick Young, Jr., age 76 of Humble, Texas was born February 16, 1945 in Houston, Texas and passed away May 5, 2021 in Humble, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dick Young, Sr. and Geraldine Fuller Young, his sister Dixie Young Davis, brothers Gerald Young, Sr., Joe Young and nephew Gerald (Scooter) Young, Jr.
Dick is survived by his wife Dena Young of 40 years, daughters Deana and Diana Young, sister Lois Young Avery, along with numerous family members and friends who will miss him greatly.
Dick was an avid bingo player enjoying games in the Houston area, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Las Vegas. He enjoyed playing dominoes, especially 42 with family, friends, the Game Day Members of Deerbrook Baptist Church and he loved to spend time with his longtime friends playing 42, Moon and cards.
Dick was a proud Class of 1963 graduate of John H. Reagan High School in Houston, Texas.
During his life Dick helped many grateful friends and family with a variety of household and mechanical needs any hour of the day or night. When Dick and Dena met in 1979 he owned a dump trucking business, Young’s Hauling Company. Dick was a hardworking mechanic throughout his life for the Houston Independent School District, J. W. Reneau Roofing Company and the Humble Independent School District Transportation Department where he retired from in 2010.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the care Dick received by Dr. Chik-Fong Wei, M.D. F.A.C.C. at Vital Heart and Vein & Associates in Humble, Texas.
A celebration of life service will be held at Rosewood Funeral Home Humble on Monday, May 10, 2021, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. and service at 2:00 p.m.
The service will be live streamed on the Rosewood website – www.rosewood.cc for those unable to attend in person.
