Obituary for Ronald Lee Richardson

Ronald L Richardson Sr., 72, of Kingwood, TX peacefully passed away on April 1st, 2021 surrounded by loved ones, after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
Ron was born on June 6th, 1948 to George and Edna Richardson in Rochester, New York.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Phyllis; sons Ron Jr., Ryan; daughter – in – law Jessica; grandchildren Henry and Vivienne; brothers George (Barb), Ken (Tracy), Roger (Nancy); Sisters Lynda (Jim), Marie (Dan) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father George, mother Edna, stepmother Vivian, and brother Mark.
After an adventurous childhood and as time as a young adult, Ron began his career in the oilfield with Drilco (Morgan, City, Louisiana) in the early 1970’s. He took a position with Stabil Drill in 1980 in Houston and was responsible for opening several districts including Corpus Christi, Oklahoma City, Midland/Odessa, Casper, Bakersfield, and Edmonton. After working in several upper management roles with Gammaloy and National Oilwell Varco, he retired from Drilling Tools International Inc. in 2020.
Ron was an avid coin/gun collector and enjoyed his annual hunting trip to South Texas with Ron Jr., his late father George, and friends. He also loved frequent trips to Las Vegas and playing golf with his two sons and close friends.
His passion was helping/developing others to be their best and spending quiet days with his family.
He adored his two grandchildren and loved being their “Pa”.
Ron was one of those unique “special individuals” that led a relatively simple life but profoundly touched so many in his path. He will be greatly missed by those that knew him. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, advisor, and friend. He was a man of hard work, common sense, integrity, and honor. He lived his life to love and provide for his family, and encouraged others to make the most out of every day.
A memorial is scheduled for 2pm on April 24th, 2021 at Rosewood in Porter, TX. Chaplain Don Savell will officiate the ceremony.
