Obituary for Ofelia Berruete (Arriaga)

Ofelia Berruete was born on May 8, 1957 to Ciro Arriaga Munoz and Antonia Macedo Gomez in Huetamo, Michoacan, Mexico. She married Rogaciano Berruete in 1979 and together they had six children. Ofelia was a hard-working mother, in 2000, alongside her husband she opened a restaurant in Richmond, Texas which then expanded to Fayetteville, Texas. She lived in Fayetteville with her husband and children for 12 years before moving to Houston with her daughters. Ofelia enjoyed living in the slow and peaceful pace of Fayetteville. Loved and known by many for her keen sense of cooking. She is survived by her children Fabricio, Enriqueta, Florimi, Rogaciano, Candy, and Daisy.

Our mother lived life to the fullest with no regrets. She had a profuse love for food, music, and an infectious laugh. Those who know her, know she had a way of making a room burst into laughter with her uncanny and witty sense of humor. Through ups and downs Ofelia weathered storms that were unimaginable whilst making it look easy. In this time of uncertainty Ofelia put her faith in god and prayed daily for herself and family. With multiple health issues, she fought this long hard battle since 2013 and has peacefully drifted to join her son Manuel in heaven. Without a doubt Ofelia is a role model to her children and grandchildren who will miss her dearly. As she would have said “Tres pasos y sin tocar baranda” we will continue to celebrate her life and the love she left behind.

Mother's hold their children's hands for a while, but their hearts forever. We truly never learned what the words 'I miss you' were until we reached for my mom's hand and it wasn't there. In life, we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place, no one else will ever fill.
