Obituary for Virginia Ilagan Conde Andes

Virginia Ilagan Conde Andes, beloved wife, mother, and Lola, entered the Kingdom of God on February 14th, 2021, in Humble, Texas. She was the wife of Romulo Andes, and they shared 51 years together.

Born in Bauang, Philippines on April 22nd, 1940, she was the daughter of Pacifico and Damasa Conde and the 2nd eldest of 10 children: Apolinario Conde, Reynaldo Conde, Felipe Conde, Gloria Prudencio, Santicima Mallari, Melquiades Conde, Luciano Conde, Trinidad Crear-Diver, and Consolacion Jeyakumar. She studied Electrical Engineering in the Philippines where she met her classmate turned loving husband, Romulo, whom she married on January 17th, 1970, in Manila, Philippines. After, they welcomed their daughter, Mary Christine, into their lives. As a family, they traveled the world and lived in Iran and Spain before settling in Texas in 1980.

Virginia belonged to the Our Lady of Fatima group and soon became its matriarch, with members from across the Humble/Kingwood area and building everlasting friendships through prayer for our Lord. She enjoyed reading romance novels and baking her famous hopia and pandesal. If she wasn’t at home, you could bet she was at Lake Charles sitting in front of a penny slot machine.

She will be remembered for her caring demeanor, independent spirit, and joyous smile. Virginia will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who were all impacted by her love and kindness everyday.

She is predeceased by her parents, Pacifico and Damasa Conde; her brothers, Apolinario Conde, Reynaldo Conde, and Felipe Conde; and her daughter, Elizabeth Conde Andes (1979). She is survived by her husband, Romulo Andes; her daughter, Mary Christine Rangel; and her grandchildren, Adrian Rangel and Alexis Rangel.

Luke 23:43 “And Jesus replied, ‘Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.’”
