Gloria Ruiz Barrera (Ruiz)
Gloria Ruiz Barrera was born on September 23, 1945 to Alejandro Ruiz and Leonor Lopez Ruiz in Courtney, Texas. Her family moved to the Pasadena area in the early fifties.
Gloria was a 1964 graduate of Pasadena High School and retired after 26 years with Pasadena Independent School District as a paraprofessional at Parks Elementary.
She enjoyed road trips to casinos, loved spending time with her family and friends. and she loved dancing with her husband.
Gloria is survived by her husband Joe Barrera, Sr.; her sons Joe Barrera, Jr. and wife Ana, and Michael Barrera and wife Lisa; daughter Maria Cook and husband Clint; granddaughter Claudia “Alex” Barrera; and grandsons Bodie Barrera, Marc Barrera, Codie Cook, Hunter Cook, Kyle Barrera, Hector Barrera and Nicholas Barrera. She is also survived by her sister Mary Rodriguez and husband Tony, many nieces and nephews and Sophie the Cat.
Gloria is predeceased by her parents Alejandro Ruiz and Leonor Lopez Ruiz and her son Danny Barrera.
Serving as Pallbearers will be her seven grandsons, Bodie Barrera, Marc Barrera, Codie Cook, Hunter Cook, Kyle Barrera, Hector Barrera and Nicholas Barrera. Honorary pallbearer, her only granddaughter, Claudia "Alex" Barrera.
She was a wonderful mother to her 4 children and the best Grandma ever to her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who felt her love and were able to watch her life’s dance.
