Obituary for Patricia Ann Richey (Richey)

Patricia Ann Richey took her place beyond the golden gates Sunday morning, January 10, 2021. She joined a rather large family circle which includes her parents, Morris and Katherine Richey; her sister, Martha Richey Roden; and her brother-in-law, Jimmie Roden. She was 76 years old.

Patricia was born November 19, 1944, in Houston, Texas. She spent the bulk of her childhood living on 8th Street in Galena Park, Texas. She graduated from Galena Park High School in 1963 and then continued her education in Searcy, Arkansas, at Harding University. Patricia earned a degree in Home Economics, receiving her diploma in 1968. She returned to the Houston area and found employment at the University of Houston in the Office of Admissions. Patricia remained with the U of H until her retirement over 40 years later.

Patricia, also known as Pat or Patsy, loved music and participated in upper-level choirs while in high school and later performed in small acapella groups at church functions. Pat’s religious foundation was firmly established in her youth. She first attended Galena Park Church of Christ, then worshipped at Southeast Church of Christ for a time before making Westbury Church of Christ her church home. Pat loved fellowshipping within the singles group at Westbury, and her connection to her family in faith was a very important part of Pat’s life. Pat bought her first home as she approached her retirement years. She selected a location in Missouri City based on its close proximity to Westbury. Hosting Fourth of July parties for her Bible class was one of the pleasures Pat took in sharing her home.

Pat leaves behind her brother David Richey and his wife, Becky; brother John Shelby Richey and his partner, Frank Vasquez; nephews Jason Richey, Travis Richey, and Mark Roden; nieces Leah Richey Rodriguez and Elissa Richey. Pat lived to see her family tree extended to include a grandnephew and four grandnieces. She is also mourned by a number of cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Rosewood Cemetery in Humble, Texas. If you wish to honor Patricia Ann with a memorial gift, please direct it to Westbury Christian School.
