Robert B. Massingill
Robert Brice Massingill (Punkin) went home to Jesus on 02 December 2020 at age 77 in Spring, Texas.
Robert was born to Robert Lee Massingill and Talmah Bonnie Lea Tully on 31 December 1942 in Clarendon, Texas. He spent the majority of his childhood in Houston, Texas where he enjoyed outdoor activities and working on automobiles.
Robert met his wife, Tommie June Moody, in 1958 at a church in Houston, Texas during a church revival. They married on 22 December 1960 and went on to have 2 children, Robert Derryl Massingill, Sr. and Russell Wayne Massingill. Outside of living 2 years in Licking, Missouri, they spent their entire lives until death in Porter, Texas.
As a teenager, Robert joined the United States Airforce and served 4 years as a jet engine mechanic at Reese Airforce Base in Lubbock, Texas. After his honorable discharge, Robert held several jobs throughout his life, including a commercial airline jet engine mechanic, Coca-Cola delivery driver and shift manager, Hydril machinist, and a long haul truck driver.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving father and grandfather, Robert also loved hunting and fishing. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which was demonstrated through his love for family, generosity, and hospitality. Part of his legacy was his desire and encouragement for all family members to achieve a higher education, and lead honorable, God fearing, lives.
Robert joins his wife of 52 years, his son Russell, and brother Gerald Dwight Massingill in Heaven. He is survived by Robert Derryl Massingill Sr. (son), 7 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, Renay Dixon (sister), and Patricia Schultz (sister).
