Obituary for
Peter Basone
Peter Basone, also lovingly referred to as Grandpa Peter, gained his angel wings at the age of 76 on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 in Houston, Texas. His loss leaves such a tremendous hole in everyone's hearts. He was a great man and will be dearly missed by so many friends and family.
Peter was born Prospero Basone on June 11, 1944 in Sicily, Italy and changed his name in the 1960s to celebrate his new life in the United States. He was very proud to become an American and was very grateful for all the memories and opportunities that created for him.
Peter's journey began when his family moved to Argentina when he was a teenager. They all planted roots there but he still wanted to seek adventure in America. He traveled all across the United States in his 20s, making some lifelong friends along the way, but eventually planting his own roots in Fairbanks, Alaska in the 1970s. There he created beautiful memories for over 10 years before moving to Houston, Texas in 1989.
During Peter's time in Fairbanks he explored the wonders of Alaska, worked on the pipeline, earned his GED high school diploma, raced cars, perfected his welding skills, became an expert jewelry maker, and started a family of his own. Despite his many accomplishments and adventures though, he always said that his greatest achievement and happiness in life was his daughter Marlyn. She meant everything to him and he lived his life for her, always hoping for the day to come when he could be closer to her, her husband Jade, and his granddaughter Dakota. He lived a long, good life and his legacy lives on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.
Peter is survived by his daughter Marlyn Anderson, granddaughter Dakota, son-in-law Jade, sisters Maria and Franca; dear friends and loved ones Rosalba, Yolanda, Molly, Ron, George, Rodrigo, and Henry; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. His dearly departed family members are his parents Salvador Basone and Giacomina Patti de Basone; and sisters Nineta and Leonor. May they rest in peace and look after Grandpa Peter until we meet again.
We will always love you! Forever!
