Obituary for Gwendolyn Rose Baker (Rose)

GWENDOLYN YVONNE ROSE BAKER, born in Palestine, Texas on March 14th, 1935 transcended to the stars on December 8th, 2020. She joins her husband, Howard, her parents Bill and Maxine Rose, and other loved ones that have preceded her. She leaves behind her two sons, Marc and Ronnie, as well as her daughter in law Terri. She also leaves behind her grandsons, Nick and Tanner, granddaughters Jennifer, Brandi, Morgan and Kristen, and her great granddaughter Makenzie. She was affectionately known as "Granny" the most adored grandmother ever. In addition to the children, Gwen is survived by her sister Billie and two brothers, Don and Wayne.
Gwen’s entire life was devoted to the service of others. Her most beloved role was as an educator and counselor for over thirty years in the Sheldon I.S.D. and touched countless lives during that time. She also spent over twelve years serving as a committeeman at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. In addition to serving her students and community, Gwen’s love for reading, cooking and shopping provided the leisure activities needed to round out a full life. Gwen opened up her home and her heart to everyone she encountered. She was a fantastic cook, and firmly believed in making sure everyone had a good meal. If you needed advice, she was the one that you went to for advice. Gwen was indeed “everyone's mother”. She was strong willed and loved life. In her life she never took for herself but gave the greatest gift to each person she touched. The gift of her love and selflessness is something each of us shall all cherish and pass on for the rest of our lives.
