Obituary for Elia Solis

Elia Solis
Mrs. Elia DeLeon Solis, lovingly known by many as “Baba”, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020. She was born in Mercedes, Texas, June, 7th 1932. Elia lived a wonderful, compassionate life filled with love for Jesus Christ. She was a widow to Alberto Solis. She worked 38 dedicated years at Hygeia and was a church member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Humble, TX. Baba loved to spend her moments with her two loving daughters, Elsa and Terry and their families.
Baba loved her family, especially her grandchildren unconditionally and dedicated her life to making those around her happy. Never was a problem too big that Baba couldn’t fix, she always helped all those who needed her. The warmth and compassion that she showed her family and friends will live on forever.
Always a bright, positive person, Baba loved to laugh, dance, and always had a smile on her face. You could find Baba on a Friday night cheering on her beloved Harlingen Cardinals and was always the life of the party.
Elia is survived by her sister, Oralia Clifford her brother in law James Clifford, and her two daughters, Terry Mares, son in law Frank Mares and Elsa Gutierrez. She has 7 loving grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Elia’s beautiful legacy will live on forever in the hearts of all her family and friends. To have known her is to have loved her.
“Not a day passes by Mom that you won’t cross my mind. Not all of you departed when you left Earth behind, for in my heart there is a place that only you can hold. Filled with our loving memory I care more than gold. I know that you still hear me Mom, so please know this is true, that everything I am today, is all because of you.”
