Obituary for
Nina Sue Konneman (Appleby)
Nina Sue Konneman, otherwise known as Sue or Susie, was born December 17, 1943, to James and Eleanor Appleby in Bullpitt, Illinois. She succumbed to cancer peacefully at home on November 20, 2020, at age 76.
Sue was preceded in death by her son Alan Konneman; parents James and Eleanor Appleby; sister LuAnn (Charles) Miller; and brother James R. (Beverly) Appleby. She is survived by her strong daughters Alana (Steve) Miller and Denise Konneman; her sister Sally Appleby Miller; her wonderful sister-in-law Beverly (Jim) Appleby; her grandchildren Jacob Konneman, Alex (Holly) Konneman and Nina (Patrick) Ross. Sue was great-grandmother to Lilly, Jane and Oliver Konneman. Sue was a caring aunt and great-aunt, too.
Sue was a beautiful, strong woman that passed her strength and beauty on to her delightful daughters, Alana and Denise. Sue was full of life, laughter and love. She loved her home and neighborhood. You could find her outside watering her flowers most mornings with a cup of tea and her beloved dog Woody. She recently had a new kitchen and “parlor” built in her house and she had a knack for decorating that would put most interior designers to shame. She was raised to love the feminine look, like pink flowers, lace, doilies and antiques.
Sue tried to help anyone and everyone that was less fortunate than her. Whether it was an uplifting chat, a few bucks or babysitting someone’s dog, she gave it her all. She was a strong woman who faced life’s trials with the old saying, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” Everyone she met remembered her for her upbeat personality, her great sense of humor and her undying love for her family and friends.
Sue will be missed by all. Her laugh was contagious. Her heart was as big as the state of Texas, which she loved to call home.
