Obituary for
Patricia Dean Stone (Davis)
Patricia Dean Stone was born November 4, 1931 in the farming community of Hobart, Oklahoma to Donald and Julie Lyde. While quite young her parents divorced and she went to live with her father’s relatives as he worked the farm. After two years, he remarried and she returned to Hobart. Her mother Julie had little to do in her life, but her stepmother Katie raised her and instilled strong family and religious ideals. After high school she married Aften M. Ritchie and moved to California where her first son, Aften M. Ritchie Jr., was born in 1951. When that marriage ended, she returned to Hobart where she married Truman J. Callaway. Her second son, Kenneth O. Callaway, was born in 1953 and her third son, Thomas J. Callaway, was born in 1955. In the late 1950’s they all moved to Houston, TX. That marriage dissolved in the early 1960’s and Ken and Tom went to live with Truman in Highlands, TX. Without fail and until they could drive, Pat drove the 30 miles every other weekend to pick them up for visitation. In 1963, she married Wayman “Hershel” Stone. In 1990, they moved to New Caney, TX where she joined Peach Creek Baptist Church. Hershel passed away in 1993. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling through the USA seeing the sights. She was employed as a nurse’s aide, realtor, and retired as a security guard with Big-3 company. She constantly thought of others and cared for several elderly aunts. Her mother, Julie, even came to live with her until she passed. In late 2015, Pat fell and broke her hip. She entered Regent Care Nursing Home in Kingwood, TX where she lived until her passing on October 29, 2020. She is survived by her brother Frank Lyde and his wife Gail of Roosevelt, OK; her sons, Aften, who recently moved to New Caney, Ken and his wife Irene of New Caney, Tom and his wife Cindy of New Caney; sister in law, Debbie Kitchens of Spring; 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her 3 husbands, her parents, and sister, Velma, and her great grandson, Justin Longnecker.
