Obituary for Bettie Jean McCaa (Pritchett)

Bettie Jean Pritchett McCaa was born August 1, 1937 and passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Houston Extended Care in Kingwood, TX. She was surrounded by her loving caretakers.

Bettie married the love of her life, Billy Wayne McCaa, in 1956 and they remained together until 2010, when Billy passed away. They always enjoyed visiting their favorite place in Cancun, going camping, and most of all, entertaining at home with family and friends. If you did not hear a voice saying “Mom” around the house, you would hear "Granny". The joys of Bettie's life were her children, grandchildren, and her great grandchildren.

Bettie loved the Lord, shopping, and eating out with friends.
She loved her hometown Humble. She and Billy enjoyed Friday night football games cheering on the Wildcats. They even changed their wedding date because Humble was going to the playoffs, so they spent their honeymoon in Luling, TX watching the game. When her youngest son started high school, she went back to Humble ISD, where she worked for 25 years at Humble Elementary before retiring. Bettie also loved her Aggies, Astros, college baseball and basketball. Her kids always said that she was a super cool Momma that happened to be a big sports fanatic. She would call her kids in the middle of the night after her team won sharing her excitement.

Bettie always dressed so nice and, as everyone knows, everything had to match. She had a watch, necklace, earrings, and bracelets for every occasion. Back in the day, her favorite place to shop was on Harwin in Houston. People often referred to her as “Ms. Humble.” She even wore her jewelry until hours before she went to Heaven. Now her bling/bling is in her crown.

Bettie is survived by her children, Alisa Bullock (Matthew); George McCaa (Karen); and Wendell McCaa (Jennifer Manzella); Son-in-law, Ron Sopchak. Grandchildren Kyle Sopchak (Kari); Kristina Bruns (John); Kara Sprangler (Dustin); Jason Bullock (Heather); Brandon Bullock (Bianca); Nolan McCaa (Lindsey); Wendi Barker (Bobby); Jenny Martin ( Montana); and 21 great grandchildren.

Bettie is preceded in death by her husband, William (Billy) Wayne McCaa; daughter, Donna McCaa Sopchak; parents, George and Doris Pritchett; brothers, George Duane Pritchett and Curtis (Bobby) Pritchett.
Because of Bettie's illness she was unaware that her daughter Donna passed away unexpectedly on April 2, 2020. We all know she was pleasantly surprised to see her when she woke up in Heaven.

Bettie was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2015 and was well taken care of until she met the Lord Jesus Christ. Alzheimer’s is known as the long goodbye but now that she is gone from us, it seems like the last five years and seven months were like a vapor. We are so thankful for Daniela Vancia and all the staff for loving our mom and taking such great care of her. With the Corona virus and the pandemic of 2020, and not being allowed to visit in person anymore, it comforted us to FaceTime her and see her so happy all the time. Our Mom is no longer in pain and her body is complete.

Bettie served on the board of the Humble Museum and never missed an Alumni celebration until she just could not go anymore. Because of her love for Humble, we are requesting that in lieu of flowers you may donate to either:

Momma,
You may have left this earth, but you will never leave our hearts.
